In addition to our parish community, we have also invited our Historic 24th Street Family of Parishes to break bread with us.
This year the Assumption falls during one of Creighton University’s move-in days.
Due to move-in days there will be parking restrictions on campus, including a temporary closure of the accessible parking lot for St. John’s. There will also be lane closures on 24th Street to accommodate the move-in process.
Understanding that access to campus will be difficult on that day, we invite those not on campus to consider joining our Historic 24th Street Family of Parishes for 8:00am Mass at St. Benedict the Moor Church (2423 Grant Street) in celebration of this solemnity.

The Sacrament of Anointing within the Mass is available to all those who are chronically ill, advanced in age, overly burdened with the struggles of life and even children who suffer from illness. The entire community is invited and encouraged to pray and support the sick of our parish.

Stay tuned to learn about events for the Historic 24th Street Family of Parishes
This book recounts the history of St. John’s Church on the Creighton University campus from its founding by Sarah Emily Creighton and the early Jesuits to today’s “parish of choice” for people throughout the Omaha area and Creighton students. It includes tours of this Omaha Landmark and its windows.
But St. John’s is, above all, a community of extraordinary people. The book highlights the historic contributions of many of them as well as recounting stories from parishioners about their experiences with the parish in everything from education, music and weddings to our relationship with our sister Jesuit parishes on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Together St. John’s members say “We Belong Here.”
