Youth Education and Sacramental Preparation

Registration for the 2023-24 Religious Education year is open and will remain available until August 13th, 2023. You can register by clicking here. Please contact SaraSB@creighton.edu 402-280-2934 for more information.

Our religious education program is for children from age 3 through 8th grade. We meet from 9-10:15 on Sundays during the academic year. Our youngest children (age 3 through Kindergarten) participate in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium with hands-on learning to help them grow in their friendship with God, and to celebrate this friendship in the life of the Church. Students from 1st through 8th grades meet in a classroom setting with catechists about 3 times a month. About once a month parents share adult faith formation, which deepens community and helps prepare them for continuing their children’s learning with at-home family catechesis. 2nd and 8th grade students typically have 4 supplementary formational sessions per semester to help them prepare for the reception of sacraments.

Racial Justice Learning Group

The St. John’s racial justice learning group invites you to join us as we deepen our understanding and insight on what justice and fairness mean. We are each responsible for doing our own work of listening and learning in the world. We gather once monthly to share the fruits of this listening in a Zoom conversation, which allows us to ask questions and share our curiosity in a nonjudgmental environment. We will also explore a common agreed upon resource, beginning with “The Spiritual Work of Racial Justice: A month of meditations with Ignatius of Loyola” written by Dr. Patrick Saint-Jean, SJ from our own Creighton Jesuit Community. The first meeting will be in-person in Lower St. John’s on Sunday, June 11th at 1pm. Subsequent meetings will be on Zoom. Please bring your laptop or tablet so we can demonstrate our future Zoom meetings. Contact Sara Schulte-Bukowinski at 402-280-2934sarasb@creighton.edu to sign up and to obtain a copy of the book (limited supplies available). We look forward to growing on this journey together

Bi-Annual Book Series St. John's offers a Fall Book Series and a Lenten Book Series centered around a faith-based book, fellowship and sharing. Contact: Sara at sarasb@creighton.edu

St. John's Parish provides faith formation opportunities throughout the calendar year for adult members of the parish. The goal of faith formation is threefold: to provide a space for members of the parish to engage their faith with the Catholic Christian faith tradition; to engage topics of faith within a community; and to build community. If you are looking for ways to engage your faith, learn with others, and deepen your sense of community please join us for any of our scheduled events.
