Audition Information

No previous experience is required, but music ministry ensembles require a short audition for new members. We want to get to know you and your gifts to help you find a good fit among the different ensembles! Walk-in auditions for Creighton students are from 1-4pm on both August 29 & 30 in Campus Ministry. Non-students can contact Molly Mattingly for an audition time.

AUDITION EXPECTATIONS:

  • Fill out this audition info form and send it to Molly Mattingly or bring it with you to your audition.

  • Prepare about a minute of a song or instrumental piece of your choosing to share with us. You can sing/play a cappella, with a recorded accompaniment, accompanying yourself, or you can bring sheet music and trust the sight-reading of the Music Coordinator at the audition (she’s pretty good). Show off a little with any piece you like, or you can always do “Amazing Grace!” If you would like to be considered to cantor funerals or weddings, please prepare and sing Schubert’s “Ave Maria” or Franck’s “Panis Angelicus” in your preferred key.

  • We'll do some vocal stretching (even for instrumentalists), a short section of something new to you, answer your questions, and get to know your preferences to help you find the best fit. We encourage you to be open to the ensemble where your gifts are most needed.

  • At open auditions for students in August, the student coordinators of the different ensembles will be there to hear your audition, too. It might feel like a lot of people, but don’t worry, we’re friendly!
