Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Mass on the Solemnity of St. Ignatius of Loyola with the Blessing of St. Ignatius Water: Tuesday, July 31 at 12:00pm in the Main Church at St. John’s.  Parking available in the lot at the corner of 24th and Cass Streets.  Celebrate the founder of the Society of Jesus at Omaha’s Jesuit Parish with a festive liturgy that includes the blessing of water in honor of St. Ignatius, a sacramental frequently used by those suffering from illness or addiction.  That Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available after Mass.

St. Ignatius is the patron saint of the Basque provinces of Gipuzkoa and Biscay as well as the Society of Jesus, and was declared patron saint of all spiritual retreats by Pope Pius XI in 1922. Ignatius is also a foremost patron saint of soldiers.
